That’s that.
Oh, and I’m also not taking back my words about Megan Hilty’s facial features being more MANLY compared to Marilyn’s and Katharine’s.
I can always say Marilyn’s face is SOOOOOO MUUUUUUUCH MOOOOORE BEAUTIFUL AND SOFTER than Ivy Lynn’s. And NO ONE can ever get that look and body, not…
Some of the people who always post critical comments are “wanna-be” broadway or musical critics. Most are haters who are critical of someone’s talent just for the sake of being critical and out of envy of someone’s opportunity.
Most of the time, I really don’t understand the hate of Karen / Katherine McPhee. It’s her first TV exposure as an actress so I don’t expect her to have acting chops like a Meryl Streep or someone who’s a veteran. But she is one hell of a talent as a singer and kudos to her for being the lead actress in NBC’s most successful drama on TV.
In my view, both Megan Hilty and Katherine McPhee have done justice to their respective roles. Having said that, it’s not much of a stretch for Megan Hilty to play Ivy…because that’s what she really is - a veteran broadway singer/actress.
For Katherine McPhee, however, she plays a native Iowan, a novice in Broadway but who actually has a natural talent as a singer (not a trained or veteran broadway singer) and is vulnerable like Marilyn. When you consider all that, she’s actually playing her part really well and is very impressive for someone who was virtually unknown until about 5 or 6 years ago.
It’s a TV show. They had to cast a talented and commercially palatable lead. Someone who you would tune into every week. McPhee has talent, is gorgeous and sure she’s commercial. She has the underdog role that we’re supposed to root for and what’s wrong with that?
Karen was phenomenal in the season finale in my opinion and I don’t think it would have worked if you switched her with Ivy. I cannot picture Ivy singing that song like Karen did!
